White Lotus Bags Golden Globe for Best Television Limited Series
The Golden Globes returned to primetime television after a year and delivered the expected glitz, glamour, and spontaneity it's famous for.
One of the biggest winners is HBO's dark comedy series White Lotus, which won Best Television Limited Series. The breakout show takes a deep and dark look into human nature within the context of peace and pleasure.
White thanked his Italian crew and star Jennifer Coolidge, who won the award for Best Supporting Actress.
"And Jennifer, I love you. We went out with a show we wanted to do with Jennifer, and everybody passed. I know you all passed, you all passed on this show. So yes, it's very gratifying to have this moment," White said.
White Lotus is one of the many series that uses the vast APM Music Library. In an interview with Variety, the show's music supervisor, Janet Lopez, disclosed how she picked the track Hukia Mai, a track from the Sonoton Authentic Series album Authentic Hawaii 3.
"A common misconception about production library music is that it's affordable and therefore not valuable. This is just not true," Lopez told Variety.
Kapono Beamer, a beloved and respected, Grammy-nominated and 12-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner (Hawaii's premier music award), and co-writer of Hukia Mai along with Mac Prindy and Grahame Roy Maclean, added:
"APM Music is a perfect example of how important and credible library songs can be. Hukia Mai' was not an alternative to a more expensive song, but rather a proud first pick for what worked best in the scene."
