You requested that copyright information for these pictures should be updated. Added to "source" field: Outline of baby traced from public-domain clip art found on DuckDuckGo Delt01 (talk) 11:34, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be more specific? [1] --Benzoyl (talk) 00:17, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Change tables are just one item you might find in a baby care room. There will chairs, floor covering, light fittings etc. Change Tables could also be found in the home, public toilets etc. So there is not an equivalence between change tables and baby care rooms--Headlock0225 (talk) 23:19, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain to me what you just did with Category:Parenting? It looks to me like, without bringing it to Commons:Categories for discussion, you basically decided to get rid of the category and make it a redirect to Category:Child care, in the process completely removing some subcats that were about parenting (e.g. --Headlock0225 (talk) 14:14, 22 October 2018 (UTC)events or organizations that honor or teach about parenting) but weren't about child care as such. This seems quite wrong to me, especially the removal of a distinction with no discussion. Am I missing something? - Jmabel ! talk 23:40, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Firtly, let me thank you for bringing this to my attention. In particular I recognise that I should have used Commons:Categories for discussion before making such a drastic move. I shall endeavour to put it back much as it was and raising my concerns through Commons:Categories for discussion. The logic behind my move was that Parenting is so broad a subject and as a category was badly structured compared to Child Care. Also I disagree with you - how can you possibly discuss Parenting without it being about Child Care? However I recognise that it just my opinion so I will put it back as it was. --Headlock0225 (talk) 14:32, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Child care is certainly am important part of parenting, but (1) you don't have to be a parent to do child care: for example, any nursery school is doing child care, but not parenting; (2) conversely, a civic event to honor parents is not about childcare. They are separate but related concepts, and need separate categories. Because of (1), I don't think child care should even be a subcat of parenting, but there should probably be {{See also}} in both directions. - Jmabel ! talk 16:59, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

Dear Headlock0225,

I kindly request that you don't undo admin actions. If you disagree with the decline of a speedy deletion you can always start a regular DR instead. Natuur12 (talk) 11:49, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies I thought it pretty clear that they were copyright infringements. I thought my speedy deletion requests were being vanadalised! I have done as you suggested and raised a DR for each. I would be interested in hearing in more details from you why you felt they did not qualify for a speedy deletion so I will not make the same mistake in the future--Headlock0225 (talk) 14:14, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File:Smiling baby lying on towel.jpg[edit]

Hi Headlock0225, the image has been renamed, I guess the description should be replaced too. That, I'll leave up to you. :-) Lotje (talk) 07:09, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove a categorie if it contains extra information[edit]

Dear Headlock0225, I saw that you removed the Category:Baby carriages in the Netherlands from File:Poppenwagen uit de 1960.JPG, but you did not add another category about the Netherlands. Now that information was gone. In itself you were right: this is not a baby carriage, but please add then another category about the location and don't let information in categories get lost. You can only remove a category wihtout adding another one if it is redundant, for instance if a parent category as well as a subcategory is added, then you often can remove the parent. Now I added Category:Toys in the Netherlands to the file. JopkeB (talk) 04:41, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category removal[edit]

Please don't remove existing categories when adding a new one ([2] one example) Andy Dingley (talk) 11:25, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies - I was using HotCat and I pressed the Move button rather Copy. I see you have corrected them all - thank you. --Headlock0225 (talk) 09:09, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Files tagged as Copyvios[edit]

Hi Headlock, @Túrelio: - I noticed you tagged and deleted a couple of files here and here on User:MdsShakil's talk page. The originals on Flickr (here and here) are clearly tagged as cc-by-2.0, which is valid on Commons, as are hundreds of other photos by the same photographer on the same Flickr page (and also already added to Commons). Once a photographer releases a photo under a CC license, this over-rides any exif copyright data, and also cannot be revoked (see {{Flickr-change-of-license}}), so these files are legitimately on Commons and should be undeleted and considered valid. For them not to be, you would need to prove that the photos on Flickr are 'stolen' (license-washed), which is implausible given the long time span over which this photographer's photos have been posted with cc licenses on Flickr. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 20:00, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Túrelio and MPF: Thanks you for you advice. To be clear, I am not an Administrator and I did not delete anything. I was unaware that a Flickr CC license statement would be considered to over-ride any exif copyright data or at least I wasn't sure. I am merely a User who enjoys chipping away at the iceberg that is uncategorised images. Occasionally, I stumble across images that are questionable copyright violations. If I am not sure, I would apply COM:PRP and Nominate for Deletion. However, now you have clarified that a Flickr CC license statement would be considered to over-ride any exif copyright data, I will bear that in mind in future. Thanks. --Headlock0225 (talk) 09:40, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:Alí Primera.jpg[edit]

Hello. How are you? I uploaded the file File:Alí Primera.jpg to Commons. I made that image from this file: https://i2.wp.com/www.ensartaos.com.ve/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/ali-primera.jpeg?fit=193%2C260&ssl=1 I'm not sure if it looks different enough to be considered my own work or a derivative work. I would like some guidance on that please. Muago (talk) 14:45, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

{{reply to|Muago} In my opinion it is sufficiently different to be considered your own work. I don't however pretend to be an expert in copyright law and someone with greater experience and knowledge could well disagree. You could try posting on Village Pump for a consensus view. Category discussion warning

Black and white photographs of women holding babies in the USA has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Hello Headlock, Meanwhile I have requested the missing information from the creator of the cardboard display. Inform you as soon as possible.Best regards Naturpuur (Diskussion) @Headlock0225 Naturpuur (talk) 15:38, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I am messaging you to tell you I am the copyright owner and can prove it.[edit]

Hello! Sorry for the confusion! It is created by me and uploaded around alot. Can you tell me the proper way to prove this? Its not copyrighted and is free to use by all.

Update here is a photo of me holding a piece of paper with the date and wiki Commons written on it. Hope this helps prove I am the creator, the photographer, and that the photo is free to use. https://imgur.com/a/xFmKXhb — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adultbaby683 (talk • contribs) 07:29, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

hi, I have removed the Speedy Delete template and replaced it with a a "no permission" template. The instructions to prove your claim are now on the image file. Headlock0225 (talk) 07:34, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I have gone through the steps and am waiting for a response! Sorry for the confusion and thanks for doing a good job! Adultbaby683 (talk) Adultbaby683 (talk) 07:36, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Horses of the United Kingdom[edit]

Hi Headlock0225, this is about the removal of Category:Horses of the United Kingdom from various UK territories. Even though "Crown Dependencies" are indeed a very specific case, all categories on Commons categorize them as "British" territories (see for exemple Category:Nature of the British Crown Dependencies). For simplicity, I suggest that we re-add the removed category. Regarding Saint Helena or the Falkland Islands, which are unquestionably British overseas territories, I don't understand this withdrawal. Ellicrum {bablute [...]} 16:21, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Headlock0225,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons. —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 23:32, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
