Turning a Fantasy into Reality – 2nd Foundation’s Filmic Fantasy
Sourcing the best composers in the world is an essential element of any successful music library. Technology has made the world much smaller, making music discovery more available and widespread. With around 120,000 new tracks uploaded daily on music streaming services every day, it’s a daunting task to keep up with emerging new artists and composers.
The 2nd Foundation Music Library expanded their quest to discover a new composer to add to their stellar catalog of albums, all recorded by live symphony orchestras and bands. 2nd Foundation’s owner Daryl Griffith teamed up with the Vienna Symphonic Library (a developer of sample libraries and music production software) to host a composer contest to celebrate VSL’s 20th anniversary. With over 1,000 applications, he chose American composer Paul Cohen to have the opportunity to record his compositions at the Synchron Stage performed by the Synchron Symphony Orchestra.
This resulting album, Filmic Fantasy, is an exciting journey of symphonic scores which add character and flair to any film. The moods range from sweeping to mysterious to thrilling adventure. Here are some highlights:
Filmic Fantasy is a fun celebration of classic film scores and reminiscent of some of the most historic films in the Sci-Fi, Adventure, and Fantasy film genres. Congratulations to Paul Cohen, 2nd Foundation, and the Vienna Symphonic Library for creating a symphonic masterpiece! We look forward to hearing more music from Paul on the big screen for many years to come.
