  • Schubert composed an astonishingly substantial number of works during his short life, including over 600 songs, nine symphonies, several operas, chamber music, and piano music. Despite his prolific output, many of his compositions remained unpublished and unknown until after his death.
  • Schubert's most famous compositions include his Symphony No. 8 in B minor, also known as the "Unfinished Symphony," and his song cycle "Winterreise." These works are considered masterpieces of the Romantic repertoire.
  • Schubert's musical talent was recognized at an early age, and he received musical training as a choirboy in Vienna. He later attended the Imperial and Royal City College, where he honed his skills in composition and music theory.
  • Schubert was known for his gift of melody and his ability to evoke deep emotions through his music. His songs are known for their lyricism and expressive power, often setting poetry to music in a deeply personal and heartfelt manner.
  • Despite his musical achievements, Schubert struggled financially throughout his life. He held various teaching and musical positions to make a living, but he never achieved financial stability. He relied on the support of his friends and family, who recognized his talent and often helped him financially.
