Aulicus Classics Club Episode Seven: The Genius of Franz Schubert

Aulicius Classics Club is a video series created by esteemed Italian music publisher Romano Di Bari and composer/arranger/conductor Stefano Torossi, with a sole purpose of putting a spotlight on the lives of legendary composers and their works. 

In this seventh episode, they will discuss the work of the great Franz Peter Schubert and two albums featuring his works. The first contains works for piano performed by Sebastiano Brusco, and the second contains works for trio and quintet performed by Gabriele Pieranunzi (violin), Francesco Fiore (viola), Rocco Filippini (cello), Franco Petracchi (double bass) and Bruno Canino (piano).

About Franz Peter Schubert 

• Franz Peter Schubert was an Austrian composer who lived from January 31, 1797, to November 19, 1828. He is considered one of the most prominent composers of the Romantic era. 
• Schubert composed an astonishingly substantial number of works during his short life, including over 600 songs, nine symphonies, several operas, chamber music, and piano music. Despite his prolific output, many of his compositions remained unpublished and unknown until after his death. 
• Schubert's most famous compositions include his Symphony No. 8 in B minor, also known as the "Unfinished Symphony," and his song cycle "Winterreise." These works are considered masterpieces of the Romantic repertoire. 
• Schubert's musical talent was recognized at an early age, and he received musical training as a choirboy in Vienna. He later attended the Imperial and Royal City College, where he honed his skills in composition and music theory.

• Schubert's health deteriorated in his later years, and he suffered from various illnesses, including syphilis. He died at the age of 31, due to complications from the disease. His premature death deprived the world of a composer who had the potential for even greater musical achievements. 
• Schubert's music had a major influence on later composers, including Franz Liszt, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms. His works helped shape the Romantic style and paved the way for future developments in music. 
• In addition to his musical compositions, Schubert was an avid poet and wrote numerous poems throughout his life. His love for poetry is evident in his songwriting, where he often sought out the works of great poets to set to music.
